This story is mine and ours. The leading figure is a boy who grows up in the middle of a poor family from the Portuguese society during the 60s and 70s. The lack of parental union and the weaknesses of his ancestors, such as alcohol, which caused the physical and mental destruction of a father, associated to the illiteracy of his mother, led him to find affection and protective refuge in his maternal grandparents.
He was fortunate to start school at the age of six, although in such turbulent conditions that he was forced to change schools four times before he was able to complete the fourth grade of elementary education. He enters the labor market working in a hotel at the age of ten, which helps him to find the balance he does not have at home.
For that and other reasons, his destiny, like that of millions of Portuguese people at that time, is migration to France...
