Originally published in 1787, this work by the utilitarian philosopher and jurist Jeremy Bentham (1748â€"1832) champions 'the liberty of making one's own terms in money bargains' and argues against government control of the rate of interest. It includes a letter to Adam Smith in response to his Wealth of Nations (1776).
