Tom Beckway is retired. In his younger years, he had a brief but extremely successful career in law enforcement. Because small-town police departments could not afford to pay their officers very well and because he had a young family, Tom made the decision to leave law enforcement. He took one manufacturing job after another, raised and educated his children, and now at the age of sixty, is comfortably retired. The concept is important to him. With lots of free time on his hands, Tom starts a business called Tom's Answers and Solutions. Using his dated but significant law enforcement training and experience, he put together a resume and distributed it to local law firms and insurance companies. When they need to locate a witness, or if they are in need of a sworn witness's statement, Tom is the man for the job. In this case, Tom is hired to get a witness statement from the sister of a recently arrested man. Sounds simple, but Tom soon finds himself in the middle of a double murder and all kinds of small-town intrigue. With the knowledge that his estranged wife is on her way to Indiana for a surprise visit burning in the back of his mind, and with the help of his live-in brother-in-law, and despite the misadventures of his mean-as-a-snake cat, LC, Tom Beckway is determined to find the answer or solution.
