An archaeologist is caught in a sand storm in the Taklamakan Desert and stumbles upon the tomb of an ancient shaman who transports him back to his previous life as Tok Ma. Tok Ma is entrusted with saving the souls of his people from enslavement in the afterlife, but fails. He is given a second chance as Nick Taylor.
