David Davies (1742â€"1819) was an English clergyman and social commentator. This volume, first published in 1795, contains Davies' detailed discussion of the causes of poverty among agricultural labourers drawn from accounts of their annual expenditure, providing valuable evidence for the increase in rural poverty in the late eighteenth century.
