The bishop of Calcutta, Reginald Heber (1783â€"1826), was only the second holder of this post, and he spent much of his tenure travelling around India. His Sermons Preached in India, published posthumously in 1829, were delivered throughout the subcontinent and often reflect the many difficulties faced by Anglican missionaries.
