Manoel de Oliveira has always accompanied his cinematographic production with an intended theoretical reflection that translates, step by step, different understandings, perspectives and aesthetic positions about cinema.
With the aim of bringing to the public this lesser-known vein of the director and repositioning Manoel de Oliveira in the group of the most important theoretical-filmmakers of the 20th century, the cinema house launches a collection of critical editions, bringing to the public a selection of the most relevant documents that integrate the archive and other studies of interest for a renewed understanding and contextualization of the filmmaker's work.
Sayings and Writings is the first issue of the Manoel de Oliveira collection and has the support of ICA - Instituto do Cinema e do Audiovisual.
