John O'Keeffe (1747â€"1833), the Irish playwright who wrote a string of successful comic operas and farces including Wild Oats (1791), for the London stage, published this two-volume memoir in 1826. In Volume 1, O'Keeffe focuses on his childhood, the influence of London theatre and his early career in Ireland.
