Many universities are introducing courses in Carbohydrate Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry within their undergraduate and graduate courses. This is a result of recent research within carbohydrate science that has highlighted the importance of these previously poorly understood biomolecules. Few books are currently available which cover carbohydrate synthesis and biology within one text.
