In 1935, in sleepy Cannero on Lake Maggiore, Paola and her daughter Eva - Little Spark - appear to ply a discreet living embroidering for rich tourists. Eva dreams of becoming a make-up artist in Hollywood; instead, she is to find herself on a journey into Mussolini's brutal regime.
