This is the journal of La Perouse's voyage, on behalf of France, and after Cook's death, to explore and survey those parts of the Pacific not dealt with by Cook. Sailing with the "Boussole" and the "Astrolabe", La Perouse set out in 1785; he and his ships disappeared mysteriously in March, 1788.
