John Westerhoff leaves Germany and the Prussian Cavalry to emigrate to America. He arrives just at the onset of the Civil War. He joins Merrill's Horse of the 2nd Missouri Union Cavalry as a farrier. After the war John marries and takes his family to Nebraska to homestead. . Every day brings new trials and tribulations. It is called "Life".
