Bullying among children and youth is an age-old problem that is both complex and pervasive. Intervention in bullying is not only a matter of compassion: Canada is a signatory to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which means that adults have a duty to prevent abuse. Ranked 21st and 26th out of 40 participating countries on the proportion of boys and girls involved in bullying, it is clear that Canada needs to do more.
