Chiefly a working reference collection, the library of the literary scholar Richard Farmer (1735â€"97) included all four Shakespeare folios and was remarkable for its Elizabethan literature and black letter. Reissued here is the 1798 sale catalogue, annotated by an anonymous auction attendee with prices paid and names of purchasers.
