Published in 1774, this tract considers the characteristics, cultivation and uses of the coffee plant. Written by John Ellis (c.1710â€"76), botanist, zoologist and London agent for Dominica, it includes the story of coffee's introduction into Europe. Ellis's 1770 work on transporting plants overseas is also reissued in this volume.
