Classical scholar Richard Payne Knight (1751â€"1824) investigates the original pronunciation of ancient Greek in this 1791 treatise. He uses evidence from ancient inscriptions, literature and coins - several examples of which are reproduced at the end of the text - in attempting to reconstruct the sound of various ancient dialects.
