This pioneering work of nineteenth-century geology was first published in 1826. This reissue is of the second, enlarged edition of 1848, which was updated in the light of publications by Darwin. It contains descriptions of many volcanic and earthquake-prone regions and sets out Daubeny's influential theory of volcanic action.
