Examines photographs, mixed media essays, and experimental literature from Mexico and Brazil. This illustrated study introduces the concept of a modernist 'ethos' to illuminate the intertwining of aesthetic innovation and ethical concerns in the work of leading Brazilian and Mexican literary figures.
