Peroxides are characterized by the presence of the peroxo group -O-O-. The first synthesis of an organic peroxide happened back in 1858. Today, more than 65 organic peroxides in more than 100 formulations(liquid, solid, paste, powder, solution, dispersion) are produced in industrial quantities.
