While dealing with her own losses and grief, Susan finds the strength to help two extraordinarily intelligent children, Joor and Mara, solve a one-hundred-year-old mystery. People of Earth now live in airtight homes and can’t go outside. These homes protect them from a virus possibly brought back from a mission to Mars. The three set out to discover if the virus is a real threat—or if they’re being lied to.
Over a few turbulent and emotional days the three bond and fill voids in their lives. For the rest of the community, the arrival of Susan and her strong personality threatens to disrupt their ways.
